This is a "talk to me in a year" review because so much of my satisfaction depends on how well it handles the wear-and-tear of 2 pre-adolescent boys. (AMAZON.COM, are you listening?) Here goes:
--Delivered on time, all pieces included, and in good shape.
--Assembled alone in a couple of hours. I recommend doing it with a friend. The pre-assembled staircase is great. Instructions were reasonably clear, very concise, and typical for this day and age. (For those who might remember the Time Life how-to books, well, those times have passed)
--Nice finish, no visible particle board. If you use power tools to assemble (recommended), DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN. Remember, this is not oak.
--Best compliment so far: when my brother visited to check it out (he has 3 boys under 3) and flopped down on the bottom bunk, "It doesn't creak!" and I agree. If you stick to the instructions, it feels and, really, is a sturdy piece.
--Best design decision: integrating the staircase with the rest of the frame. It's not some after-thought bolted on to the rest of the bed. Makes the whole thing much sturdier.
--Most pleasant surprise so far: the amount of storage. Yes, the drawers are slhallow but work perfectly well for kid-sized stuff.
--Biggest disappointment so far: that the underbed drawers don't arrive with any way to fasten them to the rest of the frame. I used a couple elbow brackets so it won't slide around when we open/close the drawers too hard.
--Why "the jury is out:" time will tell whether the screws strip out. Also, this bed is engineered to within an inch of its life; i.e. the wood is "just" thick enough, the fasteners/screws "just" plentiful enough, and so on and so on ... As previously mentioned, I'm not convinced this will survive the kid-sized abuse it's about to receive.
Overall, it certainly starts in the right place. If it ages well, this will quickly become a 5 star review. Time, however, is the great equalizer.

I was unsure about ordering this since there were no reviews. I have no regrets with either the merchandise, Amazon.com, or Dreamscape Furniture. The furniture actually looked better in person than in the pictures. Assembly was straight forward and fairly simple - I did strip out the heads of 2 screws but that was entirelly my fault, Home Depo here I come. I did not time myself but I did not hurry either. I purchased this for our grandchildren and they loved it, they even went to bed early the first night. I will probably sleep there the next time I am in the "dog house".
Got the mattresses at Sam's Club, I wanted to be able to evaluate them before purchasing.
I would highly recommend.

We bought this for twin granddaughters' (5 yrs old) overnight visits, and it has been a big hit. A good design feature worthy of note is the stairs. When shopping we saw others with stairs that went all the way to the top, whereas this one the top step requires climbing onto the top bunk. As it turns out this is a fairly desirable feature, for safety. There is a rule somewhere that says kids will stand on anything they can get up to. The top couple steps on some other beds we saw could be a fall hazard. Standing on this top step, the kid has railings on three sides. Much safer than steps up to the top.
Twin over full. Another good idea. It gives the lower bunk at least one advantage, since every kid will want the top bunk, and here you can say, "The bottom is a big bed, and it has a book rack." The wider bottom bunk also gives a soft landing place when your kid climbs over the side rail to jump down, as our granddaughter did the very first morning. Plus, if you have opportunity to sit on the side of the bottom bunk, you have less of a head bump hazard when you rise!
With the drawers under the steps and the drawers under the bottom bunk, you get a little exta storage space...not a lot, but handy. The drawer unit comes preassembled. The stair unit also is partly preassembled, which made it a minor challenge to get up the stairs single-handed. It was nice to see a furniture kit that wasn't veneer over particleboard. I was surprised to see, though, that it came from Vietnam! The bed comes nicely packaged in seven boxes taped and strapped together on a standard wooden pallet. The driver of the 18-wheeler that delivered it was most helpful and loaded into the garage with his hand truck.
Assembly cautions. There are screws of very similar size, and the number of each is not clear, as there are extras. The assembly instructions are pictures only, and I did part of it backward and had to disassemble and reassemble the end panel. Adding to that problem, the one screw whose head was damaged in assembly was one I had to remove to reverse my backward assembly. Luckily, my Craftsman easy-out bits came to the rescue. Otherwise, I'd have had a problem. Also, be careful if you use a power screwdriver or drill to put this together, as it is easy to overtighten the screws. I suggest you top your drill before the head hits the wood and finish with a regular screwdriver.
